Labia Majora Remodeling
Labia majora remodeling is a female
genital surgery to reduce the size of enlarged outer lips of the
vagina.
Labia major remodeling surgery is a
relatively minor procedure and is not painful. Your labia major
remodeling will be performed in Board Certified Plastic Surgeon,
Gary J. Alter, MD's fully accredited surgical center in either
Beverly Hills, California or Manhattan, New York.
General anesthesia is usually used, but sedation with local
anesthesia is possible if the patient elects. The complication
rate is extremely low with labia majora remodeling. Most patients
return to work within 5 days.
You can resume sexual relations in about 4 weeks. None of Board
Certified Plastic Surgeon, Gary J. Alter, MD's patients have
complained of any loss of sensation or any decline in the ability
to have orgasms.
Labia majora remodeling is performed when the outer lips of the
vagina are enlarged with excess skin and tissue. This enlargement
may causes embarrassment and insecurity. Sometimes,
the labia majora may be enlarged from birth, secondary to
childbirth, or due to aging. Dr. Alter developed a new
technique to reduce their size by removing a crescent shaped
portion of each inner labium. The scar is hidden in the
concavity between the inner and outer labia. This surgery is also
minor and takes about one and a half hours.
Example of Labia Major Remodeling
39 year old female who complained of large redundant labia majora
(outer lips) and a large pubic fat pad. Her labia majora stretched
during childbirth.
A) Preoperation. The pubic fat pad is
circled.
B) Postoperation after labia majora reduction
by removal of an inner crescent on each side and liposuction of
the pubic fat.
